Corelle Dishes - Love them! February 19, 2010 Tammy R. Hanson (Dallas, TX) These are perfect for families with young children. My mis-matched set of dishes were heavy so I tended to always use plastic or paper plates.
My only wish is that the small place was a bit larger. It's the size of a coffee cup plate vs. salad plate.
I'm now going to order the serving bowl (or 2) to match!
Great for a child's tea party but nothing else January 27, 2010 J. McGrath (NYC) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cheap and tacky, I returned it the second i opened the box. I would be embarrassed to serve anything on it. Great customer service from Amazon though, no problems returning it.
Excellent value! January 27, 2010 M.L. (Minnesota, USA) My mom had Corelle dishes when I was young, and has often talked about how great they were. So when I decided to replace a set of dishes that had some chips and missing pieces, Corelle seemed like a good choice. I received my set the other day and am extremely pleased so far. The dishes are so thin that they take up almost no room when stacked in a cupboard. The sandstone color is soft and neutral, being just a little warmer than a basic white. Even though the dishes are thin and lightweight, they look tasteful and durable (not cheap). I do wish the mugs were made out of the same material (they are earthenware), but overall I would highly recommend this set to anyone! I wish that Amazon had more accessory items to go with this set-I'll be keeping my eyes open for them!
Like cockroaches, Corelle will survive armageddon January 7, 2010 D. G. Schmidt (San Antonio, TX) Looking at some old family photos over the holidays, I noticed that I've owned various sets of Corelle dishes over the years. Sure I've had others, but I'm clumsy and I chip them and break them and, well, what's left is always the Corelle. So, after checking out the Fiesta Ware and several beautiful but high-priced sets (with replacement pieces available) it really is no surprise that I reverted to this tried-and-true option. Yes, it's kind of blah. True, the cups are made of a different material (and I've already broken one of them). Why are they made of a different material? I don't know. I usually use other mugs anyway (of the 40 or so random mugs floating around my kitchen because some days you just have to begin your day with a mug that reminds you that you turned 50 in Cancun).
I am happy enough with the Sandstone dishes. I can use various colorful serving dishes I've collected over time if I want to pep up my table. They are hardy and inexpensive and sufficient. They are an excellent choice in an uncertain economy. My only problem will be having to decide which of my children will inherit them after I'm gone, for they will surely outlast me.
Corelle/Amazon a great combination. January 5, 2010 FRUSTRATED Received 5 complete sets of Corelle Sandstone.Although I did not order it express,I received them in one day,in perfect condition. No defects, and made in the USA! We are completely happy with Corelle and Amazon. Only criticism,Amazon does not offer a great deal of accessory plates and bowls for this set.
