This year I decided to buy enough sets of the Spode Christmas Tree dinnerware sets so that every place setting would look perfect for Christmas dinner. They were the PERFECT touch. Everyone was very impressed with how they looked. I don't remember the "original" Spode dishes, so I have no negative comparisons to make to the so-called "real" ones. I think that if you just enjoy them for their beauty, you will be quite happy with these.

Since Spode went through bankrupcy, the quality is not what is used to be. The glazing is not glass smooth as the original items made in England. The glazing in Indonesia/China is rougher and the christmas tree now feels like a decal. However to complete a set is is acceptable, but I wouldn't start a set now.

I was very surprised and pleased to find the Christmas Tree dishes at Amazon.com after shopping all over Dallas for them and comparing prices on line. As it turns out Amazon had the very best price and I had the dishes in three days, just in time to set the table for Christmas Eve Dinner.
