Product Description Designed by Susan Williams-Ellis in 1972 Botanic Garden is a ground breaking pattern, over 30 different flowers adorn the collection. Each plate and cup in the patterns is produced in a variety of different flowers and the whole mix and match pattern is unified by the unique drawings, flitting butterflies and distinctive leaf border. Oven-to-table, microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe porcelain.
Amazon.com Review Inspired by 19th-century botanical illustrations, Portmeirion Botanic Garden dinnerware features a lush array of hand-painted blossoms. The pieces are perfect for a mix-and-match sensibility and suitable for year-round dining. Made in Britain from high-quality porcelain, they are safe in the oven, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. Executed with incredible detail, these Botanic Garden dinner plates display the pattern's floral images in graceful variation. Each piece features a different central illustration of a flower surrounded by butterflies on the wing. The vibrant drawings are labeled with the flowers' Latin and common names and bordered with a wreath of laurel leaves on the slanted rim. The set includes six plates in all, featuring a clematis, a peony, a lily, a Christmas rose, a magnolia, and an azalea. Each plate measures 10-1/2 inches in diameter. --Emily Bedard

Portmeirion Botanic Garden Dinner Plates August 19, 2010 Boston Girl I love the dishes. Portmeirion is great dinnerware. It's sturdy, looks beautiful, dishwasher safe and doesn't scratch. The price at Amazon was a very good deal.
Beautiful, versatile pieces! August 8, 2010 B. Davenport (Atlanta, GA USA) I recently added the soup plates/bowls to my Botanic Garden collection and have been VERY pleased with them. They not only work beautifully for soups, pasta, and salads, but also function very well as small serving bowls. Each bowl will hold up to 16 ounces (if filled to the rim). The rim also allows the bowl to be passed even if the contents are quite warm. I have not tried heating them in the oven, even to keep food warm, but I am reassured that Amazon's product discription states that they are oven safe up to 340 degrees. Locally, I found the bowls available in the Convolvulus, Primula, Daisy, Fushia, Cyclamen, and Pansy patterns. A number of online sites show the Narcissus pattern rather than the Fushia. Unfortunately, I did not see that one available when I purchased my bowls/plates. For their versatility, they are well worth the price!
Think twice before purchasing!!! February 10, 2010 V. Gardner 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received the plates broken. Although I had read this in previous reviews, I thought SURELY that they would revisit their method of packing after continually receiving them back!!! They have obviously chosen to ignore this problem, however!
beautiful dinnerware October 5, 2009 IHG (Portland, Or) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had already received other pieces of this pattern and only needed the dinner plates. I received them exactly as ordered and they meet my every expectation. They don't scratch when used, are dishwasher and microwave safe. The patterns were all different and are perfect with my other pieces.
Great dinnerware!! September 9, 2009 Walter L. Beasley (Millersville, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I saw this dinnerware at a friends home and had to get a set. It is very sophisticated, but study and works great as an everyday set. The condition and quality are first rate. These are made in Britain (not like some I've read reviews, which say they can come from China. These plates have some heft to them, too!! The price was very competitive. Bon appetit!!
